The New Kindle... Resistance is Not Quite Futile

At the new low price of just $139 for the 3rd generation (wi-fi only) Kindle, it's getting harder and harder to resist... right up until I remember that Amazon expects me to "license" my books rather than buy and own them.
At just a few dollars less for a Kindle version of a book, the tradeoff is not worth it for me. So they'll either need to fix the licensing model or lower the price of the book license.
Very cool device though. Gotta love the argument against trying to compete with the iPad: "You are not going to improve Hemingway by adding video snippets."

Awesome video... almost. As I watched, I couldn't help but feel like it was a little too
perfect. After watching the "behind the scenes" video, I understood
why. And then I realized that I probably would have approached the project
in the same way. Still, great effort by the producers, and no doubt it was an awesome
project to be a part of.

This is great... I guess I just enjoy seeing people get duped.
Jewel is married to professional bull rider Ty Murray. IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard used to be CEO of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and invited Jewel to sing the national anthem at the 2010 Indianapolis 500. I was at the 2010 Indianapolis 500 and heard Jewel sing live (which was great, except for an unfortunate microphone problem). Jewel was also on the cover of my wife's "Shape" magazine that I just tossed yesterday. So there you go... Jewel and I go way back.
